Flame retardant polymeric additives have seen increasing demand in recent years thanks to the technological innovation of the markets in which they are adopted. Used to reduce flammability, they are widely used in sectors such as furniture, automotive, textile, plastic finishes and surface coatings, registering an annual global increase between 3% and 5%.
All this has led to an excess of demand over supply, especially for additives intended for sustainable technologies. This is currently caused by the difficulty of extracting antimony obtained from the extraction of minerals from China. Given the current Covid-19 situation, the Asian country is unable to respond to requests in a timely manner.
In addition, increasingly stringent international regulations are putting those who adopt flame retardants into a further crisis, given the alleged danger that these compounds bring to crops and indirectly to humans.
The market has recently gone into lockdown and many players are now looking for new ways to respond to this situation.
For this reason, in the last period there has been a first migration towards components consisting of smaller molecules, easier to dispose of in the air, less dangerous and with a greater tendency not to create problems.
Temakrom, attentives both to the environment that surrounds it and to satisfy the requests of all customers, is working on both fronts to use components capable of safeguarding the Earth and at the same time guaranteeing the continuity of production, fulfilling requests in a timely manner and in total safety.
Once again, therefore, we proudly demonstrate that we are able to support each of you, even with a “green look”.
